Our Positive Press Team are a group of children who support the school in telling our story.
Each year they produce a school magazine entitled 'The Eye of the Owl', with lots of information about the school, learning, events, and so on. It is also packed with entertaining articles, jokes, quizzes and photo pages.
The team also contribute monthly to the 'Kelso Life' magazine, reporting on the latest news and stories from Broomlands.
The Positive Press Team are also involved in ad hoc contributions to local newspapers, media and social media stories.
The Eco-Schools programme is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action for the environment. It is a recognised award scheme that accredits schools who make a commitment to continuously improve their environmental performance. It is also a learning resource that raises awareness of environmental and sustainable development issues throughout activities linked to curricular areas.
The aim of our group will be to make environmental awareness and action central to the life and ethos of the school for both pupils and for staff, and to engage the wider community. Members of the Eco-Committee will help our school to:
Our Junior Road Safety Officers are appointed to work with the local authroity and the school to ensure our routes to and from school are safe, and that children regularly have the chance to learn about wider road safety issues.
The JRSO's lead assemblies, contribute to social media and messages to parents, work to promote road safety via local radio, newspapers and other publications. They work in partnership with our locality police office, PC Tait-Logan, to ensure we keep our children safe and well on the roads.
